Welcome to 1 Church Street The White House Bed and Breakfast of Maine located just three blocks from Belfast Bay, part of the Gulf of Maine, and the scenic Passagassawakeag River. This stately B&B is centrally located in the beautiful Mid-coast region of Maine known for its five gateways leading the adventurous from the sea to the wilderness and mountains beyond. Belfast is a traditional small town, spiked with an edgy mix of art, theatre, and dance, all wrapped up in the fresh air of the sea and coastal mountains.

The White HouseThe White House accommodations are truly spacious and elegant, inviting one to come enjoy the charm of this 160-year-old New England mansion. Greek revival and Italianate style with its marble fireplaces, columns, temple-like façade, porches and ironic capitals define this spacious home. An acre of lawn dotted with English floral gardens and an antique gazebo surrounded by stately trees compels guests to linger on a warm spring day. 

Our lovely rooms are graced with deep plaster moldings, ornate millwork and many original plaster-ceiling medallions, true to the era. Each nook and cove hides exquisite details, which may require a second look to fully appreciate how each adds to the grandeur of this historic inn. Come explore its uniqueness, and rest a bit in the resplendent glory of old.

Best of the BestFor your quiet comfort thoughtful detail from fine, soft linens to king, queen or twin beds, air conditioning, private bathrooms pervades. Jacuzzi tubs are offered in certain rooms, as well as the option of two suites for those friends or families traveling together.

The Historic city of Belfast has all the charm of yesteryears; quaint shopkeepers plying their trades, intimate restaurants, coffee ships boasting the freshest local baked goods, interspersed with a multitude of art studios and galleries. We pride fully boast of The Waterfall Art School, the Belfast Music Academy as well as the University of Maine Business School, all dedicated to furthering education here in Maine. And any visitor would be remiss if they didn’t stroll along our easily accessible waterfront and parks.
